STORRS FINALS RESCHEDULING FOR SPRING 2016

Students may receive permission to reschedule final exams that take place during final exam week if they are “bunched” or if a student has an “extenuating circumstance.” If approval is granted, it is expected that students will inform instructors of their conflict(s) prior to the final.

The final exam schedule  was posted on the Office of the Registrar web site on March 1st, 2016.  Additionally, we are piloting an enhancement that enables instructors and students at the Storrs campus to view their final exam schedule in the Student Administration system.

To view your faculty exam schedule for Storrs courses only, after logging in, navigate to My Exam Schedule by clicking: Self Service, Faculty Center, My Teaching Schedule and scroll down.  Your final exam schedule will be listed under your teaching schedule. As this is being piloted at Storrs initially, instructors who have courses at Storrs and Regional Campuses will need to view their finals schedule for Regional courses at http://registrar.uconn.edu/exams/.

BUNCHED FINALS

Students who have “bunched finals” should go to the iCenter at the entrance to Wilbur Cross no later than April 22nd. Students who do not request permission by April 22nd will not be granted permission to reschedule their exams.

Please note: for students with three exams in one day, the exam that will be rescheduled is the middle exam.

Bunched finals include the following:

  • 2 finals scheduled at the same time
  • 3 finals in one calendar day
  • 3 finals in consecutive time blocks spanning parts of two consecutive days
  • 4 finals in two consecutive days

EXTENUATING CIRCUMSTANCES

Students with extenuating circumstances are encouraged to visit the Dean of Students Office to speak to a staff member as soon as possible. Staff may allow students to reschedule a final due to an unavoidable circumstance, such as religious observances, previously scheduled medical procedures/appointments, or other ceremonies in which you are directly involved in the event. Supporting documentation will be required.

Finals are not rescheduled for personal errors, like oversleeping or misreading the finals schedule. Finals are generally not rescheduled due to voluntary travel conflicts. Students (and parents) are encouraged to check the finals schedule before making travel plans.

Students who have prior knowledge of a conflict (bunched finals, religious event/obligation, court date, previously scheduled medical appointment, or other qualifying event) must come to Dean of Students Office prior to April 22nd, 2016. Students who do not come by April 22nd for reasons that were known or should have been known prior to this deadline will NOT be granted permission to reschedule their final(s).

IMMEDIATE ILLNESS

Students with an immediate illness must be seen by Student Health Services for verification of illness. Student Health Services will provide information to Dean of Students Office who will then inform the instructor of permission to reschedule the final. Students who are ill and were seen by Student Health Services do not need to also visit the Dean of Students Office.

UNIVERSITY EMERGENCY/CLOSINGS

In cases of University closings (emergency or severe weather conditions), finals may be rescheduled from the original date/time. The Office of the Registrar in conjunction with the Office of the Provost will determine the makeup finals schedule in these instances. Please see the Office of the Registrar website for the most up to date information available.

REGIONAL CAMPUSES

Students enrolled in regional campus courses must refer to the final exam schedule for the specific regional campus. Regional campuses will NOT have their final exam schedule available on Student Admin.  Student may visit the website for each campus listed below or refer to the complete final exam schedule  posted on the website of the Office of the Registrar.
