Please join me in welcoming two new Assistant Dean of Students to the Dean of Students Office staff.
Paula Wilmot is joining us from the Honors Program at UConn, where she has served for the past seven years as Assistant Director of Honors Learning Communities and Programs. There she worked closely with student organizations, co-curricular learning initiatives, and students in crisis. Prior to that, Paula has held the titles of Director of Co-Curricular Education and Programming, Career Counselor, Associate Director for Student Life, Residential Operations Coordinator and Residence Hall Director. Paula enjoys working with students and colleagues to support student success. Paula holds a Ph.D. in Educational Leadership and Policy Studies from the University of Missouri-St. Louis.
Luz Burgos – López has joined us after serving as the Assistant Dean of Students at Goucher College for the Dean of Students Office and the Center Race, Equity, and Identity (CREI). A higher education professional, social justice advocate, queer person of color, and artist she engages students, faculty, and staff in social justice and equity work through educational and co-curricular opportunities. Her work fosters an environment in which marginalized and oppressed community members feel affirmed and comfortable exploring and expressing their identities. Burgos-López held the titles of Advisor for the Vassar College Dialogue Center, Director for the Campus Life ALANA Center, Coordinator for TRANSITIONS, Co-facilitator for Mentors in Violence Prevention at Family Partner Services in Poughkeepsie, NY and Director of Expansion for Sigma Lambda Upsilon/ Señoritas Latinas Unidas Sorority Incorporated from 2010 – 2012.
