I am pleased to announce that Ta’Shema Odoms has accepted the position of Assistant Dean of Students. This search process garnered a highly competitive pool of qualified applicants. After an extensive interview process it was evident that Ta’Shema possesses the talent and skill set we are looking for in a new member of our team. Ta’Shema will bring a strong commitment to helping students, which is at the very heart of our work each day.
Below I am including Ta’Shema’s bio, which outlines the many experiences which have influenced and contributed to her success as an educator and Student Affairs professional. Her official start date will be June 8, 2018.
Ta’Shema Odoms holds a Master of Science degree in Counselor Education, with a focus on Student Development. She brings 15 years of higher education experience, and her work has centered on mentorship of underrepresented students, transitioning veteran’s advocacy and education, personal welfare/crisis counseling intervention, and academic advising. She has held the titles of Counselor, Coordinator of Mentorship (Sister-2-Sister), Veteran Peer Mentor Coordinator, Assistant Director of Admissions, and Supervisor of Graduate Interns. In addition, Ta’Shema holds an Advanced Certificate in Professional Counseling and is a Licensed Professional Counselor in the state of CT. She is focused on holistic student wellness and nurturing an environment that embraces and celebrates diversity.
