Calendar year 2019 W-2 Wage and Tax Statements are now available in Core-CT at https://ess.uconn.edu/ for employees to access. After logging in to the Core-CT system, employees should click on the “View W-2/W-2c Forms” link in the “Payroll” section to view and print their W-2 forms. Separated employees, and employees who intentionally elected to receive printed W-2 forms from the Office of the State Comptroller, should receive their statements in the mail within a week or so.
Please note that Core-CT access is restricted to current/active employees only. Employees who are leaving the University should consider printing their 2019 W-2 forms before their access to Core-CT is terminated, as well as paycheck information and prior year W-2 forms.
The W-2 form contains sensitive information, including an employee’s name, address and social security number. If not protected, the unauthorized misuse of this information could result in the filing of false tax returns and identity theft. We strongly urge individuals to protect their information by taking reasonable precautions, such as not sharing log in credentials, and signing out of Core-CT when finished. Please be on the alert for phishing scams and other suspicious emails attempting to access your personal information.
Additional information, including a description of the various boxes and codes on the W-2 form, can be found on the Payroll website at https://payroll.uconn.edu/your-w-2/.
IRS FORM 1095-C
As was provided last year, pursuant to the Affordable Care Act, all State of Connecticut employees enrolled in the state medical plan will receive IRS Form 1095-C by mail on or before March 2020. This form will be sent to employees separately from other tax documents.
The 1095-C indicates which months during the year employees and, if applicable, their dependents were enrolled in state-sponsored medical and prescription plans.
Employees do NOT have to attach Form 1095-C to their submitted federal income tax returns. However, employees should retain the form with their income tax documents should the IRS or tax advisors have questions regarding medical and prescription coverage in the future.
