While Open Enrollment has been delayed until September, the Office of the State Comptroller has announced an opportunity for employees to add or drop dependents during the month of June without providing proof of a qualifying life event. These changes would be effective July 1, 2020.
If adding dependents, employees must provide copies of relationship documentation (e.g., marriage certificate for a spouse, long-form birth certificate for each child).
Beginning on June 1 and continuing through June 30, 2020, employees may submit requests to add or drop dependents by emailing firstname.lastname@example.org. Human Resources will follow up with employees after receiving the initial request.
Employees will not have the opportunity make changes to their medical or dental plans at this time. Rather, during the upcoming September Open Enrollment period, employees will be able to make changes to their medical or dental plans, and will also have another opportunity to add/drop dependents for coverage changes that become effective October 1, 2020.
